Obituary for top German artistObituary for top German artist

The tragic news of the death of German doll artist Carin Lossnitzer has shaken the doll world.

We have recieved the news that top German artist Carin Lossnitzer passed away on the 7th of February.

Mrs Lossnitzer was well known and well loved by all those that had the priveledge of meeting her. Back in 1987 she and her husband opened the doll museum in Coburg in Germany. Included in the over 1300 dolls that made up collection were her favorite 7 from her childhood that she had carefully preserved.

But it wasnt only her dolls from the past that inspired many. From 1989 - 2003 her dolls were produced by German producer Götz, after which she had her dolls produced by Schildkröt Puppen of Germany.

Her work was recognised world wide and one of her dolls "Karina" won the Colliii Award 2008 in the category "Best medium play doll". The prize for which was recieved at the awards by Stephan Biemann of Schildkröt.

It was Mr Biemann who recieved the unfortunate news while presenting Mrs Lossnitzer´s dolls last week at the Nüremberg toy fair. And he in turn passed on the sad news to us.

Mr Biemann mentioned in the Obituary:

"With deep regret we have recieved the news that Carin Lossnitzer has passed away. We have lost one of the most well known and best artists of this time. Carin Lossnitzer possesed a talent for expressions and craft that was second to none. We would like to take this opportunity to thank her and also pass on our condolences to her family"

At this point we too would like to pass on our sincere sympathies to the family and all who were touched by her. May she rest in peace.
