Earlier this year we brought you the report that renowned Dutch doll maker Marlaine Verhelst was organising one of her celebrated doll making workshops near Paris. To see the story click on this link
The event which ran over the last week of October was a complete success with doll artists and enthusiasts coming from the UK, the USA, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. The setting was a picturesque farmhouse on the outskirts of Paris and in Marlaines own words "The weather was the best ever for this time of the year so several afternoons we moved outside for class."
The visitors came to learn new techniques about doll making including hand sculpting using air dry clay and painting with water colours.
The students can choose their own projects. For some of the students this was their very first doll, some others come back every year for this workshop week.
Its not all about doll making though with some of the international guests taking time off to tour Paris and also enjoy the local gastronomy (the wonderful gastronomy inculding some beautiful regional wines were enjoyed by all at the farm!.
The next course is already planned for October 16th - 23rd 2010.
